Recently an old boyfriend of mine returned back home. When we dated my family hated him(because he was poor) and not many people were fond of the fact that I was a sophmore in college and he was a junior in high school. So he went off and joined the military, he's traveled abroad, got married, got divorced and now he's back, and we ran into each other. He took me to lunch, and he told me when he found out that I was divorced he was determined to find me. But from our conversation I feel like really all he is out for is sex. I mean all he keeps talking about is our past realtionship. And how great the sex was. And I keep reminding him that I am not the same person I once was. And besides the fact, I'm really focused on my education (law school) and being a great single-parent to my son. I think getting involved in a relationship will make things complicated for me. And besides I think he's in love with some other chick, so should I kindly excuse him? Or am I jumping the gun?

With all of those red flags, there should be no reason to stick around. Though some people may not agree with me, the easiest way to discover someone's intentions is through direct conversation. If sex seems to be the only subject he can cover while speaking with you, then I think that your suspicions are correct. I say that you continue doing what you are doing: excel in your studies and be a good mother to your child. A good man will come along and, hopefully, at a better time.

Are you even interested? The whole question had a negative vibe, so your gut is telling you something. If you have any reservations, I wouldn't do it...but if you still feel compelled, take is SLOW, and no sex until you figure out what the deal is.

If you discern that he might love someone else and is only trying to get sex from you, trust those feelings. If you want to spend more time with him, then be careful. Remember, men think with their willies most of the time, but if he really loves you then he'll think with his heart and act accordingly. Cheers!

Just give it time and see how it plays out. Money shouldn't matter if you love him or not. He could have changed a lot and you have to admire him for going to the military.
