Sugar Ray, he was a multiple weight champion.
few had his combination of skill, speed, defense and power. Duran was great, though he still fought past the 80's, his prime was before the 80's at lighter weights. Hagler was a avoided killer, but only a 1 weight champion.
Hagler may be the greatest at 160.
Duran may be one of the greatest at 126-140.
Leonard will rank up there with anyone from 147-160, in addition to his titles at 168/175.

Leonard was chosen, by sportswriters, the boxer of the '80's. But I have to go with The Marvelous One, Marvin Hagler.

I have always thought that pound for pound the best boxer anytime or anywhere was Sugar Ray Leonard because of style, hand speed and combinations but then everyone has their favorites

Sugar Ray Leonard. He lost to Duran and then came back and humiliated him in the rematch(and beat him in a third fight also) He beat a very dangerous fighter in Tommy Hearns(i think Hearns won the rematch in 1989 even though it was called a draw) in 1981. And he upset Hagler after a long layoff from the sport and when Hagler was considered the best fighter in the world at that time. You have to give Leonard his props.

I saw the fight of Leonard v. Hagler when i was a kid and all Sugar Ray did was run. He did a masterful boxing job, don't get me wrong and he won fair and square on points, but you could tell he did'nt want to get in a war with Hagler. Just stuck and moved and took the decision. So leonard or hagler or duran, i think.
