Salesmen are in the business of making money. The only time you might get good unbiased advice from them is if your question has nothing to do with any product they are trying to sell. Even that is not a sure thing, though, because they tend to roam in groups and refer to each other for business.

A salesman wants to sell you as much merchandise as possible to maximize profit, but not so much that you will no longer want to buy the merchandise (unless he expects a regular turnover of customers). Salesmen will only provide "information" designed to get you to buy.
You should check with some group or agency that has no connection with the products he's selling.

Salesman are out to make money. Now they might want to consider your best interests in the process but that is secondary.

if you see that a salesman is trying to sell you something that you don't want or need and he continues to make his sales pitch then right then and there you will know that he doesn't care about your well being and that he only cares about making a sale and some money

If he sincerely listens to your concerns and problems then he could be more for you than the product. But if he ignores talks over you or sounds phony than he is in it for himself

insurance salespeople are the same as all the others be aware they are after the " almighty Dollar " the same as everyone else. take it from a person who learned the hard way.
