I make greetings cards so i have now made alll my Christmas cards and have realised my friend Gary is actually Jewish, and so I wanted to make him a card for Hanukkah, but I am not really sure what to put on it, if i put dreidels, is this right? Can someone please help me as I do not want to get it wrong or offend him. He lives in the USA and I live in Spain and I do not know any Jewish people here to ask.

The dreidels idea is just fine. All you need to say is ,''HAPPY HANUKKAH''.

I want to add-there is a mistake in one of the answers. The Menorah for Hanukkah has 9 candles------8 for each night of the holiday and one (usually raised, or set to the side) to light the other candles with.

A dreidl is a Hanukkah symbol. The Hebrew letters on the sides of the dreidl are abbreviations for the phrase, "Great Miracle Happened There", referring to the miracle of the sanctuary lamp oil. The 9-branched menorah (one candle is the servant candle to the other eight) is also appropriate. The festival celebrates the survival of Jewish culture in a hostile world, recalling how the Maccabee brothers helped Israel expel the interfering Greeks from their territory in the 2nd Century BCE. "Maccabee" means "hammer", so if you wanted to be clever, you could even put a little hammer in there somewhere. "Happy Hanukkah" is a fine greeting. You could even say, "May your dreidl always show Gimmel." (May you win the whole pot.)

You can do a web search for Jewish clip art.

Hanukkah starts on December 15th this year.

FYI
Jesus celebrated Hanukkah! John 10:22 At that time the Feast of Dedication took place at Jerusalem; it was winter and Jesus was walking in the temple in the portico of Solomon.

The call "Hanukkah" derives from the Hebrew verb "???", which potential "to dedicate". On Hanukkah, the Jews regained administration of Jerusalem and rededicated the Temple.[3] Many homiletical motives have been given for the call:[4] The call would be broken down into ??? ?"?, "they rested on the twenty-5th", relating the actuality that the Jews ceased scuffling with on the twenty 5th day of Kislev, the day on which the holiday starts.[5] ????? (Hanukkah) is likewise the Hebrew acronym for ? ???? ????? ???? ??? — "8 candles, and the halakha is quite like the homestead of Hillel". this would be a connection with the conflict of words between 2 rabbinical colleges of theory — the homestead of Hillel and the homestead of Shammai — on the right order wherein to mild the Hanukkah flames. Shammai opined that 8 candles could be lit on the 1st night, seven on the 2d night, etc right down to a minimum of one on the final night. Hillel argued in choose of beginning with one candle and lighting fixtures an added one each and every night, as much as eight on the 8th night. Jewish regulation accompanied the region of Hillel

You can put a dreidal, or a Mennorah. Do a google search to find pictures of them if you are unsure of what they look like.

Also, go to this website I found:

http://www.hagshama.org.il/en/resources/view.asp?id=223

It has a bunch of Hannukah stories on there, which may be cute to add on the outside or inside of the card with the pictures!

Good luck!

Go with a menorah. You can't go wrong as it is the symbol of God's miracle in the Temple (oil that lasted for eight days)
