Allowed?
Why?
Do we need to take permission to choose our look?

Of course people should be allowed to wear the veil!
It's a religious obligation that many women take very seriously. It's not hurting anyone if I cover my hair, and my body.
Also, it's interesting to note that with all of the current uproar about Islamic women and their rights to wear hijab...
Jewish women wear snoods (a hair covering that wraps the hair around the back in a pouch) and more conservative Christians still wear bonnets to Church, and hair coverings made of lace.
If you're going to take a Muslim woman's right to veil away, it's only fair to take it from everyone.
And while they're at it, why not take away everyones crosses, and yalmulkas.
What a sad word we live in when religious expression and dress is attacked in such a blatantly discriminatory way.

Yes, except in certain public places. For instance, in a bank, if a person is wearing a veil they can robe the place and wouldn't be recognized and the teller wouldn't see it coming to set off the alarm. In school a person can be wearing a veil and wear headphones in class- I was a teacher and saw this) These are some places I would say it would be a bad idea.

Religion is a private thing to be exercised in private.

Ostentious religious signs should not be worn in certain circumstances : In public schools, when working as a public servant dealing with the public, when it might be a safety concern, when wearing a uniform etc...

Yes I think that Muslim women who want to wear the veil should be able to do so without others interference, we cannot start dictating to other nationalities how they must dress, it is their civil liberty and those who do interfere are I believe doing so on mindless fear or are running on a dictator mentality.

Yes...they should be allowed to wear anything they want as long as it isn't hurting anyone, or indecent.

It's a free country after all.

As long as they don't look down upon us that don't wear one, or try to force their beliefs on others, then go ahead! Have at it!

who is stopping them?
Their employer? A school?

I think that people should be able to wear a veil if that is a religious tradition.

Doesn't hurt anybody as far as I can tell.

Though they should have to take it off for driver's license photos and if they are stopped by police and such. Other than that - live and let live, babe.
