I have always had cable and they are driving me crazy!! Their is absoulutly no customer support so I was thinking of switching and wanted to know if they have to have a land line to run it?

You do not have to have a home phone to get service. Home phones are used with the reciever for convience to the subscriber for things such as using your remote to purchase movies , pay your bill, or to edit your account. These same functions can be done on the computer or with a cell phone. Customer service varies per company, but I agree with you cable sucks.

No. The phone is only needed for ordering pay-per-view stuff.

Good luck, but just be aware that the satellite support is pretty bad sometimes too.

we have satellite and you don't need a land line to get satellite tv service-- our home phone service is through Vonage. The tv satellite receives it's signal from a much bigger satellite in space -

No only need a dish but you can't do pay per view without phone
