I'm pretty sure that you aren't supposed to mix anti-depressants and alcohol. Try not drinking and see if the side effects continue.

The answer is YES and I can tell you why.
Prozac (fluoxetine) is part of the more popular group of antidepressants called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs). Once you reach a theraputic dose of an SSRI and then stop abruptly, you will experience SSRI discontinuation Syndrome.
Here are the side effects;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ssri_discontinuation_syndrome
Now, the way it works in terms of when the symptoms will hit and how severe they are is based on the elimination half life of the medication.
The elimination half life is the amount of time it take to get the drugs completely out of your system.
Prozac has the longest elimination half life of the SSRIs, which is why it's normal that your experiencing the effects 3 weeks later. The alcohol has nothing to do with it, but drinking a lot certainly won't help your moods if you're depressed in the first place.
Paxil has the shortest elimination half life, where if you miss a single dose, you will go mental.
SSRI discontinuation can get so bad that you'll get akathesia and tinnitus (you'll be so restless, you won't be able to sit or stop moving and you will lose your hearing and get a constant ringing in your ears).
There are specific discontinuation schedules applied for each SSRI (or psychotropic medication for that matter).

You should only do this under a doctors care, and any antidepressant after taking for two to three weeks should be weaned from. PL-ease consult your doctor. Any adverse reaction would be increased depression because that medicine has time to get into your system. There is no medicine that should be taken with alcohol and alcohol either neutralizes the medicine or heighten the effects of the medicine. It probably nuked that Prozac making it totally ineffective. You should never have taken the medicine, you never gave it a chance.

I think you should definitely consult the doctor who prescribes your Zoloft. See if your doctor agrees that Prozac would be better. Get instructions before you consider changing anything. Consult a pharmacist if you're just curious. Consult a doctor if you want to take action.

You shouldn't do that, you have to slowly take yourself off if your going to do it.. You will have some side effects.
Be careful, prozac isn't something you should be playing around with.
Shouldn't be drinking with those I had some reactions when I was on them your body just needs to adjust. Takes time!

You've got to get in to see the physician who prescribed this for you immediately! You probably should not continue with the Prozac, but you should not go off completely without seeing the doctor for possible alternatives. And don't wait! Explain the circumstances, be honest and get help.
Good luck!

you should never stop taking an anti-depressant without first consulting your physician. perhaps the dosage your doctor gave you was too high and needs to be adjusted. also, your side effects are typical of that drug. i was taking prozac for a year and i had the same side effects at first, but they eventually wore off.
my advice to you is to contact your doctor asap and talk to them about this. it would also probably be a really good idea if you stopped drinking.

when I first started using anti depressants it made me feel worse. I got the symtoms I was trying to get rid of, only worse. But after a couple weeks they subsided. When I stopped taking them I weened off under a doctor's advice and didn't have any symtoms.

the prozac probably has yet to even really kick in...but if you care about your mental health at all you need to kick the booze and resume taking your prozac...if you seriously feel the need to continue drinking consult your psychiatrist and get him to prescribe you something that will allow you to drink....you should not expect any adverse side affects...
