My wife and i took our little girl swimming for the first time,my wife was in the water with my daughter and i thought i'd take a photo.
Then what followed shocked me.
I was rudely told i was not allowed to take photo's in a public baths,i felt like a peadophile.
After a long row and me telling them what i thought i left.
Is this right please tell me what you think.

first of all it was not a BATH it is a POOL. People who need a bath need to do that in a private place. It is NOT right for whomever told you that you arent allowed. Even if they worked there. ITS PUBLIC!! If it were a private place, i'd see the problem, but public places? Noway! I'd be shocked too if I were told that! I would have still taken some pics if I wanted to. They had no right to tell you what to do in public.

it's crazy!! i have a part time job that i do seasonally, i shoot youth sports on the weekends. you know, posing kids with a ball and taking a picture. we had a pool shoot once and because of the water there were lighting concerns, so we had to go in with stuff and do test shots and meter and stuff. they flipped out, this was at a YMCA mind you. we shoot at these places regularly, they asked us to leave. we had no pool in the shoot for the swim teams, we actually had a move the location of the shoot.
yeah we were pissed and offended that we felt like we were being accused of being pedophiles also. this did however change the way we shoot, we don't go near the kids, we get their parents/coaches to pose them. they talk to us but we don't waste any time responding back to them we have become afraid of them and their parents. it's sad, i like talking to little children, they're so smart.
this rule is usually something that the parents initiate however, i didn't know there was a problem to begin with.
i mean really are pedophiles just walking off the streets into pool areas with cameras all over the globe?

who told you that its a swimming pool. Next time ask them to kindly explain the cover of any tabloid I have seen more movie stars in their bathing suits than I can think of. From what I have heard anytime you are in a public place expect to have your picture taken. We take pics of our kids at the local pool all the time.We have even had the swimming teacher do it for us. If anyone has an actual law about this please post.

Completely ridiculous. You are allowed to take pictures of someone who GIVES YOU PERMISSION TO.

The people who run the facility obviously are too lazy to want to sort out who is o.k. and who is not, so they just have a blanket policy of 'no photos'. America is really messed up that way, its become almost unlivable here. Our personal freedoms keep dissapearing, and there's very little 'america' left...certainly not enough freedom left to bother defending with your life. I'm moving to Brazil where people can still be free, and they don't compromise their freedom in the name of safety.

You were swimming in a EXTREMELY SAFE swimming pool, so safe that you can't even enjoy it properly..

There's nothing wrong with wanting to take a picture of your daughter. You just thought it would be a cute picture (It would have mortified her when she was a teen) but theres nothing wrong with what you wanted to do. The person who told you you couldn't just said that because of privacy issues and not wanting the place to get sued. Just take a picture of her swimming at the pool or something, that way no one will care and you'll still get that cute picture.

You should accept that this person who prevented you from taking a photo was protecting your daughter and if you consider the whole situation from a outsiders point of view, they were right in doing so.
Think about it,a sick part of society has caused this problem

It is right - because it stops the perverts taking pictures of your daughter too.

I know it's a bit extreme but pics of kiddies in their bathing suits are enough for some paedoes to get their rocks off.

Its the world we live in and i can understand your annoyance and shock and i feel its time for the authorities to do something to enable people to be able to take photos of their children in public places with being classed a paedophile its absolutely disgraceful

im afraid they are well within their rights.

this changed a few years ago..... and i think its very sad.

but on the other hand, i wouldnt like some kiddie fiddler taking 'so called innocent pics' by the poolside either.

you can however take them if no one else is in the pool or the parents of the kids in the pool agree. this often isnt possible though as kids tend to go in by themselves after a certain age and the parents watch.

21st century- dont you just love it eh?
