I had the same problem. Find someone who has microsoft office and borrow it from them. Use the product key given on the box. Once it's installed, when you open Word the there should be a window that asks you for further registration over the internet. Try to register it over the internet, but if it doesn't work then Word will only work for about 2-3 months as a trial and will stop working after that. If the registration over the internet doesn't work, email me and tell me and ill send you some programs to fix it. Hope this resolves your problem!! =)

If you have an "older" version, and you are using XP, then you can load the older version and IF it doesn't want to run set the "compatibility" mode to your OLDER OS for this program.
OR
You could download "OpenOffice" which is FREE, and will both read and write to the "Word" formats of the files.
The main problem beginners have is that it puts up ALL the different "types", such as word processor, spreadsheet, etc., on the screen at the same time rather than separately as "word" does.

I don't think MS Word costs hundreds of pounds.... but Open Office is a completely free alternative to MS Office, and it supports all the same formats:

The best thing to do is use a torrent client to get the stuff. Download bitlord from www.bitlord.com and then once you have installed that go to www.torrentspy.com and search for microsoft office. you can have the whole lot for nothing! You can get all sorts of stuff for nothing on there, inc windows and stuff too!

short answer No
not if you want the full program, you may be able to get word viewer to view .doc file (I know for sure that you can get an free excel viewer, from microsoft, to view .xls files)
of course, you can use opensource software, which will look and act almost the same as 'word' and will work with all the same files that MS word will work with.

Hi there,
I would suggest that you download "Open Office" from the net. It is a freebie word processing program compatible with word and has other useful progs with it such as Excel compatible spreadsheets.
A very good processor indeed.........Ron G.
