If you really want to go, and you're going for the right reasons (the top education, not to get away from parents), then make plans to fund your education on your own. Find out about loans, grants and scholarships. If you don't get help from your parents, you may have a good chance at grants and scholarships.
This is about you becoming a full person. Pursuing life, independently and for good reasons, is a good way to grow as a person. It's also a good reason in itself to try.

DO NOT LET ANYONE HOLD YOU BACK FROM YOUR DREAMS!!! I allowed my parents to keep me home just one more year before I finally said "f" it, it's MY future, I have to do what I have to do to achieve my dreams and goals. I finally joined the military, and it was the best choice I've ever made! They'll be sad, but will get over it. You're doing something to better yourself, so GO FOR IT! You will keep in touch with them all the time, they don't NEED you to be there physically. They will be so proud of the end result. What are you waiting for, transfer!!! Good luck!

Tell them you have to follow your path. Thank them for showing you how to be strong and that you'd want to continue to grow. The world is always changing and you want to change with it.
My son just finished a masters program 600 miles away and has taken a job there also. We talk/e-mail almost every day. Your parents have to let go and let you fly on your own. Do your research and sit down w/them to explain you destination. Their hesitance will turn into pride! Good Luck!

Your 20 now and I know it can hurt when we want to do things that our parents don't agree with. But you have to do things that are right for you. Your parents cant live your life only guide you in making good choices. They will still love you if you go. If this university is a good one then go. Don't let them control your life you are your own person. I regret it I have let my parents do it to me and wish I never did. My brother moved on and moved to England that hurt them, but they still love him.

Who's life are you living your or your parent's? Its okay to want to please our parents but don't let them rule your life decisions. They may threaten to not give you support but if they gonna go through all that so they get their way then maybe you should just follow the beat of your own drum. At some point in time we all have to step out on our own. This maybe that time for you. Whatever you decide stick with it. You can earn more respect from your parents by showing them your conviction than by giving in to them.

I say transfer and promise that if neither of you can handle the fact that you are way too far then you will simplty return home. Once you leave they will realize that the decision you made was the right one. You can always visit on holidays and breaks anyway.

Do what is beest for you and your future. Dont let their insecurities cause something you'll regret later in life. You are 20, it's time to branch out into the world and live your own life. Without risk we gain nothing!

Why does your parents want to stand in your way of getting a top education, Do what you feel is best for you, your an adult, they'll get over it, unless of course they hold your tuition over your head and refuse to pay.

You can't insist that your parents support you- financially or emotionally, so if they disagree strongly, be prepared for them to possibly cut off funding. If you really want to go to a specific school, check out financial aid, loans, employment opportunities, and be prepared to do it yourself. I did it my own way, and it was doubly meaningful because I did it myself. Very rewarding.
