Build it up gradually.
Try jogging to the next lamp post then walk to the next etc.
Good Luck.

Depends on how out of shape you are to begin with. Remember be nice to yourself, this is supposed to be fun or at least somewhat enjoyable. Also remember that anything you do for exercise is better for you than doing nothing.
Now go out and walk a nice distance, maybe a half hour or so. Then tomorrow start walking on the same route but when you feel loose and comfortable jog for a while. Your heart rate should go up. Then walk, then jog, then walk then jog. You can time your intervals or simply do what is comfortable. Once home do some light stretching and deep breathing for 10 minutes or so.
Do this on the same route every second or third day. When it feels right add more distance.

If you have never exercised for ages or at all then try going for a walk for ten minutes a day, building up to an hour every couple of days, you could try walking for five minutes and then jogging for five minutes eventually cutting out the walking phase and just do what you can. You should feel energised and a little hot and sweaty afterwards - almost glowing - and your heart should be beating faster but you should not be near exhaustion doing it. Swimming is a good all round exercise but you could speak to your doctor for better advice. They can advise you on how much to do and what to aim for in general as well as personalising it for you.

hello gill, i would recomend fast walking at first especially if you have not doen any jogging before. after waking for an hour per day for a week i would start with a 15 minute jog.
then gradually increase the amount of time you jog by 5 minutes every three days until you are jogging for about 45 minutes.
i would then jog for 45 minutes three times a week for about 5 weeks.
after this you can increas the amount of time again if you feel up to it. cheers neil and happy jogging

Don't just go for it on the first couple of times. You will ache for weeks if you do. Plan a route out (get the distance from your car) and set daily achievable goals. Today I'll run to the bus stop before walking, tomorrow the post box (100m more) and so on - you will be surprised how much further you go after only a couple of weeks of jogging everyday.

Warm up, strecthing for 10 minutes.
Jogg slowly 8 minutes then walk 2 miutes in rotation for 30 minutes.
Do this 3 x per week.
After 3 - 4 weeks start advaning, running longer distances etc.
Don´t overdo it at teh begining or you will get pains and stop.
Drink a lot before and after the exercise.
After your run do stretching again.

Jog until you start to tire, walk for a bit, jog again, walk again, jog again, walk again. As time goes on, you'll jog for longer. Go out with a friend who is riding (not too fast) on a bike and try to keep up - it's a good motivator!
If you are not used to exercise, don't push yourself too much at the beginning; you could try running on the spot at home...

Seriously speaking.....from a track star..:) Start by knowing what your goal is. Prepare your mind for this event, stretching exercises 1st. for at least 10 minutes....power walk for a couple of days if you're not used to running. Then graduate yourself into a jog.... :) Bicycling is another way to increase your cardio work out.
Happy Trails!!!

No, just start with 3 times a week for 30 minutes. Do it mildly and don't over do it!!!
Also, start slow, don't start jogging right away. Walk slow and then increase the speed by little.

Start putting one foot in front of the other, then repeat until you start jogging. :-)
Seriously. Determine what your ulitmate goal is whether its for cardio or loss weight, whatever. Start out walking( but walk fast) don't push your self too much at first. Your body will tell you when its ready for more.
If its weight loss look at sites like this for motivation.
