Why would anyone with the ability not to, want to willfully help George Bush wage his criminal war in Iraq?

Erudite, you know the information you've posted is false... especially since modern studies have shown the demographics of the military to be pulled overwhelmingly from the middle class range with slight deviations both above and below. Further, the education and GPA rates for military members are, on average, higher than for their civilian counterparts in the same age bracket. As for myself, I personally signed up to join the military at age 18 (which wasn't THAT long ago, comparatively) and I'm most certainly not from a background of any people who "pick up bottles off the street." FYI, niether is anyone in my squadron from such a background... I understand your objections to the war, even if i disagree, but to badmouth the social standing of military members based on false information is irresponsible and potentially rude.

From the questions you posted about the military I find it hard to believe that you are out trying to recruit anyone for the military .... and the poor who are picking up bottles aren't enlisting for the military!

most kids are afraid they will be sent over to war that is one major reason why. I have two teenage boys whom their father was in the 82 Airborne however, they choose not to join cause they don't want to get killed in a war. War is scary to youngsters, they see it on the news everyday and it terrifies them. I don't believe it's mostly poor people who join, I believe it is just those who choose to join and those who choose not to join.

Judging from the rest of your questions it sounds like you have a lot of hatred and resentment toward the military. Maybe that's why you are having problems recruiting people. It would be like using John Kerry as a poster boy for the military...hypocritical.

They've been listening too much to mass media instead of making decisions for themselves. They kind of remind me of the lemmings.

Because they have enough of their money to live off of. Did you ask George W's daughters? Why don't you start there and then when they refuse go on Dateline and let the whole country know.
