My little cousin is now 8 years old and i am taking care of him till his mom can do so.I have baby sat for him for a long time probably since he was born.Anyway he has a habit of rubbing or massaging my butt when he was little it was funny but know at 8 its not especially when he does this in public. He is a shy kid and i think its a strange security thing.

It can be as little as putting his hand in my back pocket and then almost groping.I have spoken to him to no avail.

The kid learned it somewhere. Tell the child to stop and that it is inappropriate.

Well, it is probably nothing, since a child at that age is not sexual in any way.
You will just have to be more forceful in stopping the habit.
My 5-YO likes to tell people they have nice boobs.
He is not a pervert, because it is not possible, but that doesn't mean I can let him continue to do it until he is 8.
Just get more adamant that he not do it.

Hi Kelly A. When my niece was 4 yrs old she would put her hand down my blouse for comfort. What I did was, I kept her favourite toy with me and, everytime she put her hand down I took it out and gave her the toy. It took about 4 mths for her to get the message but it worked. Hope this helps. To "Whatever", no need to be so rude.

When he does this, take his hand in yours or give him something to hold. There is nothing perverted going on here. He sounds like a little boy that has had a rather difficult beginning. He is insecure and lonely and touches you to reassure himself. You can teach him to do this in other ways. Speak kindly to him. Hold his hand in yours. Give him something of yours to hold. Children of many family situations feel the need to touch their care giver to reassure themselves. Make sure you don't cause more pain and anxiety for a child in your care.

my son does that every once in a while, but its not gross or anything, just insecurity. You should talk to him and tell him that its not very child like. And when he feels like doing that, position his hand to your belt line or position him infront of you. I don't know why they do that, but my son stopped after I did that a few times.

well you need to tell him that he cant do that anymore...and give him sonthing else to hold, such as a toy, food, anything that would take his mind off of it because he needs to break the habit because its not a good thing..

Every time he touches your butt, gently take his hand away and firmly tell him no.
