Filing a complaint in a small town is a very risky practice, in a large city you will not have a problem with the other officers but in a small town you will be known by everyone and the officers friends will be out to get you. I have done this, and then, when the harrasment started went through the Attorney generals office and had the officer reprimanded.

I saw the friend of the business owner thing coming before I got to the end. I think it's pretty typical police behavior. If it really was a legitimate complaint (I have no way to know), I suggest you report it to the local police chief, or whoever is in charge of the sheriff. If someone's friends with the cops there's not a whole heck of a lot you can do though. Probably your best bet is to just let it go.

Our wonderful justice system that is suppose to protect and serve. Its not. I agree small towns yes you will have trouble but big towns could be the same, but don't let that scare you go after those cops that over work there badge. Some of the think they need to prove something or that if they have a badge they are god. My dad was a state trooper for 43 years (retired) and he said times have changed and there are alot of dirty cops out there. Good luck and go get them....

That can't be accurately answered without more facts about the incident. Depending on your definition of verbal abuse, your complaint may or may not be founded.

Well... stuipd questions sometimes get stuipd answers.... in todays society.... as long as you have gift cards to Krispy Kreme, and Starbucks I think you'll be just fine with this situation. I'd go to the city hall, and talk with someone there if it was me. But i would have lipped back to the Mofo in the first place, so i'd have a night in jail to get info on who to contact anyways. ;o) good luck

you can, keep in mind though that they audio tape you.. so if you file a complaint that isn't completely accurate.. he can sue you for defamation of character- I saw it once - I guess if you lodge a complaint it goes in their file permanently whether or not it's founded..

Anytime you report police impropriety to internal affairs, you can expect to be harrassed. In an ideal world this would't happen.

Depends on the abuse. Did he/she threaten you or discriminate? If so, complain. If not, don't waste anymore time on this. We all have bad days.
