The newer Sony camcorders has a special circuitry to detect if you are using genuine Sony infolithium batteries. Here's a discussion thread about this:

You should be able to return it to the place of purchase for an exchange or refund.

Unfortunately a supplier will say anything to sell his products. He really has no idea what will be compatable with sony products if he does not sell sony at his shop.

well it isn't. you've tried and its not.

take it back to the supplier and tell them that it is not suitable for the purpose it was brought for.

they have to give your money back as they advised that it would work. if they insist it does work take your equipment to them and insist that they show you how.
