I mean, it's Atlanta ask anyone who has ever driven there and they will tell you that everyone in the city drives at least 85 all the time. I got ticketed for 79 in a 55 (thanks for cutting me some slack GSP) The road was clear (I-85) dry, middle of the day, and the car had a support the GSP bumper sticker on it. Any way out of this one? Or any idea what it will cost me?

I live 400 miles away, I'm not going back there to show up for court.

Get a good lawyer. I had a lawyer fax in my court date cancelation 2 days before court and since the court office clerks are idiots the fax was time stamped 2 days before court. But at the court heiring they found me GIA since the cop thought this he never showed for the rescheduled court case and I won back my 300+ fine.

I have been to Atlanta several times and grew up in a large city. The comment about having to drive 85 mph is an excuse and not fact. I would recommend you pay your ticket and know that a support the GSP sticker etc doesn't mean a hill of beans. So much for trying to bribe your way out of a ticket!!!

Well, you can just pay the fine and be done with it.

You can show up to court. Depending on the court, you might get a reduced fine just for showing up (that's happened to me), or the case might get dismissed because the officer isn't there to testify (that's happened to me too).

There's no downside to showing up in person (other than the time involved), since paying the fine by mail represents the maximum possible penalty. So, your worst-case scenario is that you'll pay the same thing anyway.

Call the number on the back of the ticket. The nice lady will tell you how much it is. then you write a check, and mail it in...

ATL cops are not very lenient about their speed limit - even though everyone knows you don't drive 55 on I75 or I85. you would get run over!

Well, you can't fight with that 24 miles different. Pay the fine is best bet and learn your lesson well. Speeding about 10 miles should be excused, but you are way too much...
