It is true. Guys and girls that like someone frequently behave mean to them to get their attention.

Yes it can be because of that. Sometimes if you like someone and you are shy about them knowing, or you are worried about what others will think, then you play down your attraction by not being nice to them.

Most people will have been in a position when they were younger with their mates when you are nice to a girl and then everyone takes the piss laughing and making kissy sounds and you tell them to, "Shut up!" or whatever.

Of course, being mean can also sometimes make it look blatantly obvious, because nobody else will be acting this way and it will show. At the very least people will ask why you are being so mean to somebody, even if they don't assume you are attracted to the person.

yup, especially if the guy is nice to everyone else.

if a guy is nice to everyone except you theres a reason for why he is doing it to you.. thats because he sees you as 'more' than a friend.

From experience it can be one of many things as it depends what type of being mean you mean.

1. If its the one where a guy is teasing and is calling you names that is the basic and most common flirting from a guy.

2. Another is if he acts cold with you sometimes or ignores you, doesnt necessarily mean he doesnt like you or want to speak to you. Its a way of him being nervous around you so acts he acts abit daft.. it can also be because his friends are around he doenst want his feelings for you to be picked up by anyone around him, he wants to keep his secret feelings to himself.

Guys know they have to act more like a man to get a girl because being the 'nice guy' doesnt always work in these modern times.

Depends on how mean, if you mean teasing or being a little bit cruel or condescending then that might be true but that would lead to a very loud and angry relationship. Once somethings a habit it's hard to break. On the other hand if they're mean then they might turn out to be nicer once the girl starts dating them. Never hurts to give it a shot.

bit stupid if he does! never heard of that before, what you may of hear dis treat them mean keep them keen, which is something some men do once in a relationship to keep a girl on her toes. By treating her mean, he acts as if he dont really care and if they were to split up it wouldnt mean anything as if he wouldnt be bothered so the girl does all she can to keep him happy and make him like her. sad but does happen. if a bloke does it to you tell him where to get off

I would say this is true, I have often done this. I wouldn't try to make them really upset or physically hurt them, but maybe just harmless names or something like that. Some people do it to hide their feelings.
