Patient is female, 70 yrs old, about 4 days ago, had fever, vomited once and complained about stomach pain, sonography revealed small stones in Gall Bladder. this is the first time this has happened. But since that day there are no other symtons or any pain. Is surgery the only solution or these stones can be dissolved by any other means.

no, surgery is not the only solution, the doctors can give her medication through IV that will break the stones and she will be able to get them out through the urinary track. Don't let them operate until they try that. My stepmother had the same problem, and they were able to resolve it without operating

Surgery. Especially since they're small, they could go down in the duct and that's no good at all. So the gallbladder will be yanked. The laproscopic surgery now is less intrusive than a large incision. And really, they won't miss their gall bladder at all. Best to get it yanked.

Surgery is the solution, the problem with not doing so soon, is the stone could lodge in the opening and cause the blood flow to decrease to the tissue causing necrosis (death of the tissue), or the gall bladder to fill up and burst.

A way to find out if it's the gall bladder is to feed her something greasy and if she has an gall bladder attack (Vomiting and pain on her upper right side, below the breast)then you know she definitely needs it out. I only had one gall bladder attack and surgery was the answer for me, but mine was FULL of stone. It's really painful, so
GOOD LUCK!!!!

No, surgery. But if there are no other medical conditions, then the surgery is not a big deal. They make 3 small incisions and suck it out (really) by laparoscopy.
