I would like you to either prove eternal damnation or denounce it no matter what religion you belong to. I would like you to separate the functional beliefs of your religion from the unproven....or basically lies. Isn't it time we humans take charge of religion? Isn't there too much at stake here to rely on the judgements of the traditional leaders who robotically taught us our hate?

I can neither prove nor disprove the existence of hell. But reason tells me that no crime, however heinous, is deserving of ETERNAL punishment and no JUST god would sentence anyone to PERPETUAL suffering.

I wonder whether you feel that theistic creed is discredited by the actions of hypocrites who say they follow God and don't really, or;

Do you have a problem with the very concept of a righteous, all-powerful entity (God)?

You see the evil things that people do in this world, and how some people dedicate their lives to being part of the world's problems and not solutions. Isn't it a good thing if the buck really does stop somewhere?

Humans have a hard enough time taking charge of their governments. Trying to take charge of religion is like trying to take charge of cockroaches. Besides, many people cling to the threat of eternal damnation to prove they "win" by believing in the "correct" religion.

I may be cynical, but I fear that you are asking people to take more responsibility than they are prepared to accept.

Do not confuse religious teachings with Biblical teaching eternal damnation is not Biblical. Why? God is a God of love eternal suffering is not loves of any kind. The wadges of sin are death so at death all our dues are paid. The dead are conscious of nothing, like Lazarus it is likened to sleep awaiting a wakening (Resurrection) if you obey God you will be remembered in his book of life and be resurected to paradise. If you were sinful and unrepentant you will receive the second death (no resurection)

Well, judging by the tone of your question, this answer will probably fall on deaf ears (eyes) but I will try.

It saddens me to know that there are people in this world who believe that we were put on a rock in the middle of the universe without a "big plan" in place.

We breath air, drink water, and have dirt to grow things in and live on. This is not possible anywhere else that we are aware of and seems a bit too convenient for me to not believe in a higher power.

That being said, I believe in God and I believe him when he says in the Bible that there is an afterlife for those who do not find favor in his eyes. Seperation from him would entail "weeping and gnashing of teeth" and spending eternity in a pit of fire, yet not being consumed by it.

The things Christ has asked us to do are not difficult (Love God with all your heart, love your neighbor as yourself, repent and be baptized) Why would you want to live your life in sin and be wrong and find out the hard way? Why?

It boggles the mind...

Furthermore, putting humans in charge of religion is what got us here in the first place. God speaks to us through his inspired word in the Bible, and The Gospel(the story of Christ) can be summed up in one word: Love. Anyone who has "robotically taught us our hate" has not done it in a manner according to the word, so there will be a special place in hell for them (as Paul states in Galations 1:8, "As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed. ")

Hope this helps...

Its weird that you metion this. My granddaddy told me this past Thanksgiving, that if you go to hell that there is no such thing as eternal damnation. He said God wouldn't have burning in fire for eternity. He says that once all are called and judge before God, and if you are found guilty your experience what is the 2nd death, you are thrown into the lake of fire, and you are "blotted out" the book of life. You are gone, thats it. No eternal fire.

The question should be "how do you prove eternal damnation?"

As an aetheist, I don't believe in anything, so would be interested in how someone could prove it.
