While I don't place any stock in the Biblical creation story, it is silly to say that Adam belonged to any religion whatsoever. There were no religions at the time stated in the Bible. Even Judaism didn't start until Abraham.

Poki Poki is correct. It is by definition. The prophet muhammad(pbuh) said that everyone is born muslim, but taught a different religion by others as they get older. Adam(pbuh) had no mother nor father. He had "a"(meaning ONE) GOD. If you give it thought, it is very logical. If you can recall when you were younger, you always believed in GOD. And it was not the christ. But GOD alone to how you believed as a child. But as you get older, we as a human race lost that belief and try to rationalise the situation that only mankind has brought upon the globe. Muhammad(pbuh) is the first of the muslims in truth to exist within islam. His wife Khadija was the second. But by definiton of a muslim, we are all born that. We are not born christians, atheists, catholics, pagans, etc. That is taught and not imbedded in us at birth. Islam is a religion. A muslim is one who submitts. By definition. Basically, adam(pbuh) was just one who obeyed his creater. Which made him a muslim. PEACE!

BTW, muslims don't believe that adam(pbuh) was existed 6,000 years ago. That is mixing a christian belief with that of islam. The reality of the matter is, we don't know. But it was waaayyy longer than 6,000 years ago. Could be in the millions. He could have been from Ethiopia. Who knows? "And allah knows what all knows not"-quran. And yes, we believe in beasts of the earth that have come and passed. Why deny what is? Well, I do anyways. People act as if every individual is not sovereign with thier own thoughts.

I am a Muslim and I can tell you for sure that I have never heard that one before.

Adam is considered the first human being god created, he worshiped god and he is the father of all prophets.

We believe in all the other prophets, and Christians and Jewish are considered "People of the book"

Basically, as people grow and population started to spread prophets had to be sent to guide people.

Adam (As) was a Muslim as he believed in one god ,all the prophets were appointed to spread the word of Islam, but were not successful. It was Muhammad (pbuh) who finally establised Islam.

Not a Muslim in the modern sense, but all Prophets worshipped only one God, Allah. That is the foundation of Islam (La ilaaha illallah - there is no God but Allah)

Adam wasn't anything. He was just Adam. Christ wasn't a Christian, Muhammed wasn't a Muslim and Joseph Smith wasn't born a Mormon. When you start a religion, you can't be born one. Adam may have been an Israelite, but I'm not even sure that existed yet either.

They may be claiming simply that they are descended from Adam. The Jewish and Muslim faiths both came from Abraham's line, the split happened with his kids, so both faiths claim Adam.

Well, then, by that logic he wasn't a Jew or Christian either so it really doesn't matter, does it?

Being that the whole story is so silly in the first place, it's like arguing over whether the imaginary friend belongs to Johnny, Mikey, Or Nicky.

Muslim= someone who submits to God. All the prophets submitted to God making them Muslims. The religion of Islam was completed with the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh).

I THINK the general gist of their mythology is that, he[adam] started "on the path", after thousands of years, the people diverged so God sent down moses to bring them back "to the path" thousands of years after that, it happened again so he sent Jesus, 600 years after that it happened again so he sent down Muhammad as the last prophet and promises to maintain the Koran as uncorrupted.

it is funny that Muslims say you have to admit Muhammed to be a prophet to be a Muslim but yet everyone before Muhammed was a Muslim. like Jesus, Adam.

the word Muslim actually means someone who submits themselves to God's will.

so anyone who has prayed your will be done and not my own just like Jesus is a Muslim by definition and not association.
