If the possible warrant is in reference to you, and you have a driver's license go to your state's department of motor vehicles (in California, it is the DMV. The agency name may be different in other states) and request a check on outstanding warrants.

If the warrant is for someone else, go to any police agency in the county that you suspect that there is a warrant, and request a check for outstanding warrants on that person. You will need to know the person's full name, date of birth, and last known address. Note, too, that if there is a felony warrant, you could be held as a person of interest or a material witness.
