First things first, try it on another computer. If it works on another computer just fine, the problem lies in the software on your system. The best thing to do would be to uninstall the software and drivers from your computer then reinstall it and see if it works ok then. If it does not work on another computer then check the cable you are using. If you are sure the cable is fine but the camera still does not work, Is it less than one year old? if it is less than one year old send it back to the manufacturer. Older than 1 year, i recommend taking it to a camera service center, such as wolfe, camera america, or geek squad. They should be able to tell you if the cost of repair exceeds the price of a new camera. Best of luck to you.

It was proibably the "drop" that caused this problem - your friend owes you a working camera!
I dropped my JVC camcorder maybe six inches a number of years ago. It never worked again.
My friend dropped his Sony camcorder maybe 12 inches. It never worked again.
Your camera needs to be professionally examined by an expert.
It doesnt look good!

One thing about digital cameras and that is they break too easily. One must always be careful at all times.
