I have a 5-year-old little boy and am at a loss as to what to get him for Christmas. I'm sick of spending $$ on junk just so he has gifts to open. Any good ideas? He likes building things and loves sports and drawing. Thanks for any ideas!

Honestly
I bought my 3 year old and 5 year old the V-Smile video learning system
with all the games

and they love it and have learned alot (math, letters, drawing, shapes, counting, reading) they have lots of fun learning games and they are very fun. My daughter likes Cinderella game and my little guy likes Blues Clues. They have all the popular characters for whatever your little guy may like.
They have several systems for certain ages

The V-SMILE 3-6 YRS old is the one you want
The V-FLASH is for older kids

Plus to when they outgrow it you can sell it fast on ebay. This is a hot item on ebay and I have seen well take care system sell for almost the new price!

When I buy my kids stuff that have many parts like legos, blocks
action figures they end lost and all over the house. The learning game system is always under the entertainment center-
Just my thought!

How about a personalized book? Kids love to hear their name in the story. Go to this website http://www.tlc-expressions.com They have lots of titles like Batman, Spider-Man, Scooby-Doo, Justice League, Looney Tunes, Sport Superstar, etc. Check it out, and good luck!

Why not Lego's or a nice ball and glove, or a sketch pad with colored pencils..it could be that he's already gotten a hidden talent and will be an architect

If you are thinking of something materialistic I can suggest you buy him a computer/game console and choose more smart games for him. I bet he will like them or you could just spend more time with him and do some more son-father stuff. Hope this helps.
