I asked my doctor about this and she said stay away from the dye for the first three months. After that, she said it's okay to color your hair. Apparently there's not a substantial amount of evidence that it can harm the baby, but to be safe, it's probably wise to stay away for the first trimester.

Yes, I have heard this, but here is my question to you....they say that the chemicals can harm the baby right...so why is it ok for pregnant cosmetologists to apply hair color to others they hover over the color while applying it so don't you think that that would be worse? I was a cosmetologist for 5 years and colored I don't know how many people's hair during my pregnancy and also colored my own who knows how many times....my son turned out just fine. I guess if you are really concerned talk to your doctor about it. Everyone is different, so just because my son wasn't harmed from the chemicals doesn't mean your baby wouldn't be.

I've heard it, but I'm not sure how true it is nor do I beleive it has ever been proven to cause problems. It depends on who you ask, I suppose. Personally, I dyed my hair red during my first pregnancy and I was highlighting it in my second and both pregnancies were healthy and normal and both of my sons were born healthy and happy. I even asked my doctor and she didn't think there was anything to worry about. The only thing she advised was that I not breath the fumes, so I covered my nose and mouth with a towel when I got my hair done.

I asked my doc this same question, he said to avoid it in the 1st trimester, then after that ask the hairdresser to apply color away from the scalp (meaning you'll have to get it done again sooner, but it's safer) but that with all the extra hormones floating through your system, there's no sure way to know just how the color will come out. I opted to just use a temp color (can use on scalp, since no bad chemicals are in it) to match my natural shade til baby comes because I didn't want freaky looking hair! Good Luck

Yes, it is true. Any reputable hair dresser will refuse to colour a pregnant woman's hair. Highlights are okay though as the dye doesn't really have too much contact with the scalp. I highlighted my hair while pregnant, and I had no problems at all.

Ohh sturdy grief If I had a greenback for everytime someone stated no you shouldnt do this at the same time as your pregnant i might want to be wealthy lol... I dyed my hair 8 years in the past at the same time as i change into pregnant and my daughter change into wholesome as ever. My record okayed it. see you later as your no longer sitting int he fumes. i in my opinion positioned the dye on my hair, I used the organic Essence its a better organic dye and sat outdoors on the porch and walked round, that way i change into in the sparkling air and didnt inhale the fumes. in the course of the first trimester its an total nono yet having stated that so is maximum of each and every thing else until eventually you dont recognize your preggers. And a large style of the hair dyes accessible now will allow you to recognize on the field if its alright to apply at the same time as pregnant a number of them truly say do no longer USE if prego, yet there are some that dont have it. seek for a probability-free one. in case you bypass to a stylist tell her your preggo earlier you bypass, that way she is conscious beforehand of time. sturdy success with the baby!

Any chemicals that you put on your skin, your hair, or in your mouth can be passed onto your child. There's no way to be sure whether or not they are affecting your child in the short or long term; they might appear perfectly healthy when they are born, but those chemicals could affect their DNA, or increase their lifetime risk of cancer, or affect their nervous system or brain development. Best way to be safe is to avoid chemicals of all kinds while pregnant and nursing. It's better for you, too!

I dye my hair and did it when I was pregnant but by the person who usually does my hair! I have a healthy child and no worries.
The studies do not come out and clearly say it is bad for you or your baby. In fact many OB/GYNs and midwives will tell you it's fine.
Ask your Doc or midwife!

No it is not true. I got my hair cut 2 weeks ago and I asked my stylist. I am 33 weeks pregnant and wanted highlights. She said no it is not harmful to you or the baby. In fact she does it to pregnant women all the time

Truthfully there is no proof of harm, yet it is good to be careful. I dye my hair every 6 months or so so it doesn't seem to bother it. Talk to your doctor and trust his opinion. Some seem to say it is better to be safe than sorry and some say No harm done...
It is really and truthfully up to you!
