No. they do not. There are too many fundamental differences in their doctrines.
"Traditional Islam teaches that there is only one God (Allah) and that God works through prophets rather than assume a physical form.
The Nation of Islam claims that its founder, Fard Muhammad, who appeared mysteriously in Detroit on July 4th, 1930, was the incarnation of Allah (God).
Traditional Islam teaches about the
Prophets: God revealed His existence to a number of prophets, including Adam, Abraham, Moses, Jesus, and Muhammad, who received God's final revelation.
Nation of Islam teaches that after the death of Elijah Muhammad, the movement has taught that he was a prophet or "messenger" of God.
On Race: The Qur'an says Allah created the human race "from a single male and female, and made you into nations and tribes, so ye may know each other, not that ye may despise each other."
The Nation of Islam elevates blacks (and often other non-caucasians) above whites, who are considered "blue-eyed devils." The NOI also believes that whites were created by a renegade black scientist named Yacub."

They are not the same. Islam is the true religion and Nation of Islam is heresy. The Nation of islam does not even worship the true GOD. They believe allah to be Wali Farad that existed around 1920. Allah was never incarnate as a man. Nor will HE ever choose to. So to answer your question, no. Islam is the true religion and the nation of islam is invented by the covets of mankind. As is most other religions. They are not the same nor worship the same thing. Malcom X was a true muslim. But not till later. Only till after he took his pilgramage to mecca and came back to the states. That is when he finally realised what they were teaching him were totally wrong. Then he started to teach the REAL religion of islam and they murderd him for that. A true martyre. Peace Be Upon Him.

Nation of Islam, founded in the US in the 1930s, is primarily a black separatist movement, and presumes that its founder, Wallace Fard Muhammad was both the Jewish Messiah and the Islamic Mahdi, the guide that would bring about the perfect Muslim society.
Malcom X start off in NoI, but after his Mecca pilgimage, he split from NoI, preferring mainstream Islam. Some conjecture this decision contributed to his death.

No. Nation of Islam followers are not considered Muslims. They are disbelievers. You are right, their beliefs are so contradictory and bizarre that they are out of the folds of Islam. It is a cult that has nothing to do with Islam.

it's the other way around.
mainstream Islam doesn't recognize the nation of Islam members as Muslims.
they have added their own innovations to the religion which is a deviation from the true Islam.
therefore they are not Muslims.
