You can lock your checked luggage, but as everyone said they need to be by TSA approved locks http://www.tsa.gov/ if for some reason they can not get into your luggage they will break the lock open. You will find a piece of paper in your luggage from the TSA stating that they broke the lock in order to search the luggage (it happened to my golf clubs last time I traveled with them)

You can lock your checked bags with the TSA-approved locks. I purchased mine at Target. They're not that expensive. If they have to unlock your suitcase, the TSA agents have a "skeleton key" basically that will allow them to open these locks. If they do open your luggage, they'll put a note in your suitcase.

yes but you need to use "TSA" approved lock - these will allow the TSA agents to remove the lock with out destroying it - you can pick them upo at WalMart or Target for pretty cheap.

yeah, just as long as they're TSA approved...those locks the inspectors can open with a special key...but no one else can...i use them...
