If it was proven that God, Satan, heaven and hell do not exist? I mean this hypothetically. Would you think that there was no such thing as right and wrong and start acting like the main character in Grand Theft Auto? I ask this because some of you have asserted that there is no such thing as right and wrong without God. Somehow I don't think you all would really start raping and pillaging en masse...
And please, no "But God has to exist! I have proof..." or "God can't be disproved because.." This is a *hypothetical* situation.

"Hypothetical" means "what if?". And Monika, no, I don't believe in God for reasons that are too complex to fit in the word limit. I asked this because I'm not a serial killer or anything, and some Christians seem to think that atheists would automatically have no problem with being a serial killer. So, I used a hypothetical situation to give them an opportunity to see things from my perspective. Or at least that is what I wanted to do.

Any body who believes in God, and says that people who do not believe in God cannot have morals is being ridiculous. Morals are in our hearts everyone has them. To answer your question. I guess I wouldn't read the Bible as much, or go to Church that oftern. I would probably do everything else the same. Most of my morals have reason other than just God to back them up.

IF, IF, IF
If mankind was left to his own devices, then this world would be utterly chaotic. Already, many of those who do not know God murder, steal, rape, there is no thought or morality for the victims.
Just self.
Why is people smoke when they know it is bad for them?
Because they do not want anyone telling then what to do.
Why do people steal from others and not care about the other person?
Because they do not want anyone telling then what to do.
Why do people do drugs, drive drunk, when they know it is wrong?
Because they do not want anyone telling then what to do.
Do what thou will.
There is no right or wrong without God. When man is left to himself, what he dictates as right and wrong will have no impact on what others believe.
If one says stealing is right, man will do it.
If one says rape is right, he will do it.
If one says the killing other races is right, he will do it.
Since there would be no standard set, mankind would set his own, and he will act upon them. And all this happens today, where God is not wanted or desired. Evil is the absence of God.
If God doesn't exist, evil would have complete reign and anarchy on earth.

Why to act different than i'm acting nowadays???
I'll be the same person, so, if someone tell me that God or Satan, heaven or hell dont exist, I'll act as i have done it till now?
I have not a way of acting for God and another if he doesnt exist. I act as I act because myself, no because of God

The point is that people establishing their own views of right and wrong do not work.
Like serial killers that get a thrill out of killing. It makes perfect sense to them. They justify it, and think that there is nothing wrong with it.
Or the guy that steals your wallet because he is hungry.
We will never agree on what is wrong or right without some guide and light from a perspective higher than our own.

Good question...had to really think. I guess that IF there was no God, there would also be no eternal consequences. Therefore we would as a society would become more selfish, do what feels good, and totally disregard right vs. wrong. In my opinion that is what we are seeing in today's society...the further we get from God the more destructive (to ourselves) we get.

If God didn't exist, there would still be universal moral laws that we humans would still adhere to. But life would likely fail to exist. Man without God cannot sustain himself. Whether you believe it or not, God has kept us from utterly destroying ourselves.

I would have to rethink my whole entire life as it has been based on my faith in God. I do believe in God, and I probably always will, even if someone does try to prove he's not real.

Religious people that think people cant be good without believing in God are delusional. Its just a ridiculous statement. There are a lot of religious people that aren't good.
I was good before I knew God.
