Tell her that sisters do not come from Santa. They come from mommy and daddy joining together in love and their desire for a baby. Tell her that you and daddy are not ready to give her a sister, and you can't take proper care of her right now. Sisters need alot of love and care, and you want to give all of it to your daughter for a while longer.

LOL, just sit her down and tell her that Santa can bring puppies and kitties but it is harder to get a baby sister because that is on all the other kids that are her age list. Also, I told my daughter that Santa can't drive the Sleigh and take care of the baby at the same time. though now my daughter is 12 so now she knows the true meaning of Christmas.

Just tell her that a little sister is a person and you can't give people as gifts. At 5 she's old enough to know that babies don't just appear out of nowhere. Tell her that you and your husband aren't planning to have another child just yet and that if and when you do have another baby, you can't pick whether it is a girl or a boy. Then just ask her what toy she'd like Santa to bring.

ROFL my daughter asked for a little brother for Christmas when she was 4 I wasn't sure how to handle it either so I just told her that Santa doesn't decide when a mommy has a baby, God does. I don't know what your beliefs are but it worked for me, and I got her a doll for Christmas and told her to practice on that for when she did get a baby brother!!

If you don't want to burst the Santa bubble just yet, you might explain that babies aren't presents. Only a mommy and daddy can give her a sister. And if that isn't going to happen, well, it isn't going to happen. Maybe she can invite some friends over for a tea party or a play date instead.

Well, she probably won't ask you again. If she does, explain to her that the stork brings baby sisters, not Santa. Or whatever you feel comfortable with.

I would tell her the truth Santa does not bring people, just gifts, like dolls, what about a doll that looks like her, they do have those.

Just explain to her that Santa and his helpers specialize in toys.

"Children are a gift from God, not Santa. A child is created out of love from a Mommy and a Daddy."

Keep it simple.
