What are your Holiday Traditions?

I normally travel to see family for the holidays, so I don't decorate my own place. No point! Plus, I don't really want to see the cats tear it down! hahaha. As far as when I see my family -- there are no specific traditions I can think of. Every year it is the same craziness trying to figure out everyone's schedule and when we can get together.

I love Christmas--so I make new traditions as i go along. favourites--slow boil cinnamon on the back burner or in a small potpourri warmer, cedar boughs--everywhere wrapped with garlands of red beads. hand crotchet snowflakes on the tree strands of cranberries as garland. and any friend or family who walks through the door is asked to pitch in. This can be an idea, an ornament or gift wrapping service for the truly talented as-- I,m not.

No, I have never decorated my home for Christmas. Spending money on a lot of froufrau just isn't a priority for me. Moreover, I can't bear the thought of a tree being cut down for such a frivolous purpose.

Our household's tradition is to put wooden decking on the floor of our hallway.

we put up our tree and decorations the day after thanksgiving. we pop popcorn and have cocoa and the children and grand kids help us. we used to always cut down our own tree on indian land and bring it home. but the man that owned the land passed on and we now go to a tree nursery and get one. more expensive but ok. we also give decorations to our kids and our kids to us that we and them have used in previous years. we kind of swap tree trimmings. i have some of my grandmothers and my mothers and mine and all of my kids do too. we swap and keep them all in the family. merry christmas.
