I ready an article that says they hate psychics because they're a bunch of frauds.

But word is that psychics are the ones who are due real credit for solving more cases and murder mysteries than detectives and law enforcement officials. I wonder, is it because most psychics are women and it makes the cops look stupid...

edit: When I say 'Word is..' I'm referring to the things I just read.

And for the record people, this is not an ill intended question. It's a straight up question, that I am interested in hearing your answer to. That is all.

I'd have to call B.S. on your source for the "word is...". Psychics have never been proven as a reliable method for solving cases or there would've been an official position for them, or even more important, judicial notice of their effectiveness/reliability.

Cops don't necessarily hate them, they just can't count on their credibility which is the sole basis for gathering information. On top of that, there are a lot of whack jobs out there who claim to be psychic.

Word is that psychics solve cases? Word from whom?

Oh, psychics.

Cite for me a case that was solved by a psychic. I want to know who, what, when, where and why. All the details. I want to know the specific prediction. Usually they're noncommittal. A psychic in Iraq would say "she's somewhere that's very hot. I see sand."

Law enforcement officers will take any advantage available. If psychics had a proven track record, they'd have been on the payroll years ago.

Postscript: Very amusing that I have three thumbs-down but nobody cites anything to support the psychics-are-valid theory :)

That's all just plain wrong.

I have been a cop for 24 years. Spent many years as a homicide detective. Had psychics calling in daily with "tips". Never once have any of their "viewings" panned out.

Its all fraudulent. They are nuts or people looking to get some press.

Any you say "They are the ones due the real credit for solving cases". Rubbish. You need to show me some credible source for that claim.

This ain't TV land. The only way cases are solved is through hard work... Not magic, spells or hocus-pocus.

As for you last statement, sounds like you are just trying to put a spin on this that Law Enforcement hates women. You are either disturbed, sexually biased or one of these hocus-pocus types yourself that cant seem to get your foot in the front door.

Psychics have terrible track records when it comes to solving cases, as do most profilers (although for vastly different reasons. im my opinion, psychics are a scam, whereas profilers are often correct about their assumptions but rarely does their information lead to an arrest). Television and movies have glamorized both professions and makes them seem credible. Plus, not all psychics are women.

First and most....do you believe everything you read??????

I'm sure if they were accurate they would be taken seriously.
Cops aren't afraid to use valid information. It is known and stated that cops often need the citizens help in order to solve different issues. That is taught that in the academy.
