Someone said chocolate. I had eaten chocolate daily since i was a kid and i always wondered why i wasnt depressed especially considering how bad my circumstances were, violent fater, low income family, no friends, then a few years ago i heard there had been a scientific study which found chocolate does indeed help with depression. Another recent study claimed that omega 3 fish oil is a miracle cure for depression, this was based on the fact that populations who eat plenty of fish have much lower instances of depression than populations where fish is rarley eaten. For instance Japan has a very low instance of depression where as south africa has the highest rates of depression in the world. I do take omega 3 oil but if i had to say witch benefits me best it would definatley be chocolate, it definatley affects my mood for the better, even just a tiny amount a day like one square from a bar. Working out is also a big depression killer, especially weight training. Finally try to have a routine to live by, that also is a big help. I notice its times when im at a lose end and have no direction in life that i get depressed a lot, so even working out daily or twice weekly will give you something positive to focus on, plus it raised the happy chemicals in the brain.

This depends on what is it you are depressed about. First you need to take a look at what is making you feel the way you do and than decide if it is bad enough to make you decide to go and get medication for awhile to help you cope better and maybe counseling. My thought on depression is no one deserves to feel this way and it is very curable but no one can help unless you ask.....Don't suffer because you don't have to there are to many medications and counseling services out there.

I deal with it by indulging myself a bit more chocolate than usual and immersing myself in some activity (usually work related) which will take my mind off of what's bothering me.
Serious cases of depression are cause for medical attention. Sometimes there is an underlying biochemical causation which cannot be circumstantially controlled.

I deal with depression by praying to my Lord and Savior. Read your bible. Think of all the things you have that you should be thankful for, your family, children, home, vehicle to drive, clothes, food. We take for granted so many things and these things can be taken from us in a blink of an eye. Go to the Lord and his word.

In the Beginning God created heavens and earth.
God gives you air to breathe and sunshine to enjoy.
God gives you water to drink and food to eat.
God gives you a wonderful body and sound mind, to live.
God loves you, and you are precious to Him.
Son of God died on the Cross to save us from condemnation.
Jesus’ love is boundless and everlasting.
We have the hope of Heaven through Jesus.
Life therefore has fantastic and glorious future!
(Digestion of above can even prevent depression and suicidal thoughts.)

Start by doing more out door activities, maybe you need more light in your house, because winter can do that to a lot of people due to low light conditions.
Do something that can stimulate yourself like new projects.

I concentrate on light, happy, funny things. Watch comedies, talk to people who are jokers, think about funny things. Eventually it cracks the depression.
