Yes. SOme patients are confused and are not capable of telling an nurse when they need to go to the bathroom. Other patients may have problems controling their badder or bowels and are put in diapers instead of using a bedpan.

This would depend on the patient and the hospital. Usually diapers or Attends,as they are called, are only used on patients who are incontinent of bowel and bladder and who normally where them. If you are put in the hospital they will not just put a "diaper" on you unless you fit into this category. Medical staff try very hard to try and reteach bladder control, sometimes it works and sometimes it cant, depending on the condition.

I know that they use the diapers in nursing homes.
