When it comes to red u need the right shade or colour of red or everything can look bad i think as long as everything else is a loght colour a darker red or even close to an auburn red is nice just don't go bright or blood red cause it will make your kichen look really small n u don't really have much to work with in order to lighten up the rest of the kitchen. What do i know I'm not a decorater but would love to b good luck n send a pic to me when your done i would love to see the end result.

You dont want the scheme to to be too primary looking (red, blue, yellow are the primary colors)...there are so many reds and yellows available from so many different paint manufactrers that its hard to say what will match without seeing the existing colors...but yous should go to ur local hardware store and get all the different samples of teh color red (they are free) take them home and hold them up against the yellow...see which one seems like a match to you :)

Those colors looks great together especially in a kitchen/dining room area. I am not sure what color reds are used in the photos below, but I think a candy apple red or dark red would do. Click below links to view photos. Good Luck

Plan on buying LOTS of paint......red takes many coats to come out the proper shade you want. I painted just a part of a wall in our kitchen below the chair rail and it took about 5 coats.

I know you don't want white but, I'm afraid that all that's really going to work. Perhaps, one wall or section in red to match the table. Or, white walls with a boarder that has red in it. You could cover the wall with that brick or stone that's made for walls. It's real easy to do. Here's one more suggestion paint the walls white and use lots of pictures with red in them with black frames and red matting. Hope this helps.

My kitchen is dark red, and very pretty. I think it would complement the light yellow in your dinning room.

Whatever shade you choose, the best paint is Kilz paint. You can get it at WalMart. It is guaranteed to cover in 1 coat. It is the best paint I have ever used. I painted my bedroom chocolate brown, covered great in 1 coat.

I would color it cranberry or wine but if you have a Home Depot in your area, they have beautiful shades to choose from plus you can ask a salesperson in that department for advice. Good luck.
