yes. But I would reccomend you chargeb the battery overnight (approx 16 hours) before prolonged use. Most items with a battery now come with a partial charge so they can be used but the tijme is limited because you don't know how much charge. Much better to curb your enthusiasm overnight and know the battery is fully charged.

Yes, you can still use it. In contrast to what the person before me posted, you do not have to charge it overnight. I work with cameras everyday and we sell this particular model. It is a lithium ion battery. They all come with a partial charge which will let you take a few pictures and play around for a bit, but you will not get the full battery life that you will in the future. Go ahead and play with your new camera and enjoy it! When the battery dies, charge it up and start shooting pictures all over again. The great thing about lithium ion batteries is that it does NOT build up battery memory. Therefore, you will not experience a shorter battery life by using it now, charging it halfway, using it, charging it, etc. The battery does not need to run down all the way or be fully charged before use. Its the same type of battery as a cell phone. Basically, if you are going to be going out somewhere and want to make sure you have a full battery, charge it up when you have the time (ex. i charge my cell phone every night, and my camera battery when needed). Also, it will not take overnight to charge. The battery in the FE-190 is small and should only take about 2-3 hours to charge up. It will not hurt the battery by leaving it in the charger, although it may get hot to the touch if you leave it charging overnight. Hope this helps!
