I'm not certain but perhaps it's because Pentocostals are so overly charismatic that they have taken the whole spiritual gifts thing and have taken it way out of context. (i.e. snakes, tongues, etc.) They have twisted and distorted the Word of God to fit their own needs and purposes and have caused great confusion within the Body of Christ.

I'm Pentecostal, and I'm not sure what your getting at. I have never heard Pentecostal refereed to as being Apostolic..... Full Gospel and Pentecostal are about the same... When people ask what denomination i am i tell them Full Gospel. Because when you tell someone that your pentecostal they tend to think that automatically we handle snakes.... But that is far from the truth and if someone was to bring a snake into our church I'm sure that every member in it would run.... As for the few Church's out there that do i think that it is ridiculous and that there tempting God... God gave us common sense and we should use it... I hope that everyone has enough sense not to test God, he can do great things and yes I'm sure that he can keep a snake from biting whomever he pleases but when you push him, and test him then he should let the snake bite ya... That's foolish. Also speaking in tounges people don't understand it, they don't understand that it is a gift from God... The Holy Spirit dwells inside of everyone, just because you go to a Pentecostal church does not mean that you will have to speak in tounges.... Thats also crazy for people to think, i don't.... It would be great if God would use me in that way and i'm open to whatever blessing he may want to give me. Everyone should be...

A True Apostolic Pentacostal will line up 100% with God's word.

i don't know either. i was reared Apostolic' and still remain in that faith. some people may go overboard, but that could be in any religion. i for one, know what i believe and what i have witnessed. perhaps, it's because we use to be called the "holiness faith" and some people took it to mean that we think we are the only "holy" faith. as far as it goes today, i go by what i feel and receive from the "WORD". so, i suppose i practice what is received in my spirit more so than by what the name of the religious group i attend adheres to. i think this is one reason there are non-denominational churches around today. we all are to follow JESUS' teachings and He did not teach by religious sect. Paul wrote most of the books of the new testament and tried to lived as close to the teachings of JESUS' than any other apostle and even he said that he do the things he don't want to do rather than the things that he did want to do. maybe people think Apostolics' preach too much, sought of like what i've started doing here just answering your question. (smile)
but, above all things GOD and HIS WILL, will be done. so, maybe someone will read another's answer and their heart will be touched by the love of our SAVIOR!!!
GREAT. there i go again. running on about GOD!!! i personally couldn't think of anything or else better to speak favorably about. AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL PRAISE THE LORD AT ALL TIMES AND HIS PRAISE WILL CONTINOUSLY BE IN MY MOUTH!!!!!!!
(there goes that apostlic rearing again)...

Because they think they are the only ones given this gift of tongues by God. Also, if you are going to take the Bible literally, then it also says that a woman should not open her mouth in church...if she has a question, she should ask her husband. I don't believe that you can pick and choose the parts you like from the Bible to take literally and then ignore the ones you don't like. Some would say that people of these sects are very contradictary.

Its the word Apostolic that scares people away. I don't think they are bad, I just don't think the elder, or pastor of a church should tell people what to do. I understand that the leader tells people what to do ,how to spend their money, who to marry etc.

Actually this can be a two way street. Some feel they know it all, and anyone who disagrees with them is wrong. I not feel this way and the best verses I have found in the Bible for my reasoning are; Mark 9:38-41. I think any person that believes in Jesus should read this and write it in their Heart, I have.

I don't think they are bad. Some people just don't understand why some are so charismatic(sp?).

Unfortunatly, you have people like "Angry American" that wants to lump everyone in a big category and criticize them. Truth be known, he has probably never been around one, just what he has seen/heard on TV or someone else say. Too Bad.

No but your views are pretty radical. Praying in tongues and the translator doing there witch doctor translation of gibberish. Plus you are very limited in your opinions since you/try) to ignore outside influences. Knowledge that is proven is discredited as demonic or sinful. To me you are not scary yer ignorant. Peace and enlightenment

I do not think you are bad, your heart yearns for God just as mine does.

But I completely disagree with your assessment of the meaning of speaking in tongues, as well as your insistence that everyone must be able to heal others by prayer and touch.
