what are te required things you can use the money for? can you use it for books, clothes, food ect.?

you can and should apply for financial aid in January and have the fafsa completed before the mid-February deadline. that way you'll get the most money. you can use the money on ANYTHING! they just assume that you're going to use it to pay for school. most people get the money and use it to live on cause tuition is usually done like the first day of school. my roommates got like $2000 and they're using it to pay rent. I used mine for books. it all depends. also apply for work study. work study is usually an easy job, and they plan around your school schedule. and it pays well considering you don't do much.

If you are applying for federal financial aid such as Pell Grants, you can do that in January of your senior yr in high school for the fall semester. Pell Grants pay tuition, books and lab fees, and if there is anything left over you get that back to use as you wish. The amount of your Pell Grant depends on financial need. If you are talking about loans, you can also apply for them before the fall semester begins, either at the time you do your Pell Grant or the beginning of summer. You may use your loan money any way you wish, after your tution is paid. For instance, if you qualify for a Pell Grant and apply for a loan also, your Pell will pay your tuition and probably most of your books, then you could use your loan money for rent, or transportation,etc. Pell Grant money does not have to be paid back, nor do any scholarships you recieve, but loans do have to be paid back. it would be better if you apply right after finishing submitt the applications, because that way, you won't miss some deadines
