I was think a bookmark would be more useful but a necklace is nice. What do you think?

A bookmark WOULD be more useful, but we're talking about 2nd graders and I don't think reading is on their mind that much. A necklace is more fun in their minds, so I'm sure they would rather make a necklace.

It depends, is it a boy or girl? A boy probably wouldn't want to make a necklace. And, yes bookmarks are useful. I'd go with the bookmark.
What would they make the necklace with?

I think it depends on the child. Some 2nd Graders are really into books and would love a bookmark, or to make one for someone else. Others prefer pretty things to wear. I know when my girls were younger they loved to make bracelets and necklaces for us to wear. I think in 2nd Grade I probably would have bought them stuff to make necklaces.

I think it depends on the kid. Some kids are big readers and a bookmark would be cool. Others couldn't care about reading, so the necklace would be better for them. The necklace would be a big bragging point for them in general though.

I think a 2nd grader would prefer a necklace that they can wear. I don't think kids are too thrilled with bookmarks at that age.

If its a girl then a necklace. If its a boy then a bookmark will be fine.

Yes, to us adults, bookmarks are more useful and sensible, but I think kids won't see it that way!
Kids like to play - they could play dress up and use their imagination with necklaces - really can't play with a bookmark, you know?

I think it depends on the children. My sons would rather make a bookmark because "necklaces are for girls!". Their words not mine.

I think 2nd grade girls would prefer to make a necklace, but I don't think 2nd grade boys would. Boys would probably not want to make either. The boys may would want to make the necklace if you tell them they are making it for their mothers.

I asked my 9 year old daughter, she said she would prefer making a necklace. Because she sees it and can wear it right away.
