So many people have never read their religious text in its entirety. Is knowledge of your religion important before you start talking about it?

How do you THINK you know so many people have never.........
People who believe the Bible are educated with the Bible which is something you ought to try before you (know it all) knock it.

much better. I think there ought to be some kinda test people should have to pass b4 they can say they are christians, cuz of exactly what u asked. There is an area where it states that they Body (eyes , ears, foot etc.) should wrok together and in that area it says there are parts of the Body that should be kept hidden, and many of those parts are bouncing around embarrasing the rest of the body.

There are opinions and I wish when those who teach them taught them they woul;d point out that they are opinions. I myself try hard to keep the facts and opinions separate when I talk to others cuz some of these opinions are not only in error they are devisive. Note the people who perpetuate such are running the risk of not having an inheritance in Heaven

There is an old expression: "Two Jews, three opinions". Or something to that effect. The same could be said about Christians, Muslims, Buddhists, etc.

Many many people I know are sincere, honest, dedicated Chrisitans- have read and studied the bible for years- and yet all have different opinions about the same scriptures.

interesting, isn't it?

But another expression that I know to be true: In essentials, unity. In non-essentials, diversity. In all things, charity (love).

The essentials of my Christian faith are few but very very important. The non-essentials are too many to shake a stick at.

But may we believers in Christ exhibit love in all that we do....

God bless!!

All religious texts are just that...stories, books, a record of something that may or may not have happened. There is no concrete evidence to support any religious text. So, are they opinions? Yes. Knowledge comes from fact.....testing theories...proof. Not hearsay or storytelling. Now, there is nothing wrong with believing in a religion...believing in something is good. But believing and fact are two very different things.

If you think that the ideas someone else has written down are somehow important to you, this idea makes sense.

God has a separate and unique truth for each of us and He is more than capable of telling us what it is. We just need to be smart enough to take the time and listen.

Love and blessings Don

All views about any subject are ultimately opinions and are all based upon some level of knowledge, though rarely perfect knowledge. This applies to science just as much as to religion.

Of course....that's just my opinion.... ;-)

I find it hard to form opinions on things of which I am ignorant. So I think that it is important to know what you believe and why and can back it up.

They're opinions founded on faith in an alleged divine revelation-knowledge and logic aren't of any use to Christians, only belief.

Until you gain knowledge and acquire understanding of your religion, you shoudn't discuss it with a bias opinion.
