I think past 18 most parents consider being to old to live at home, but you are extremely lucky to have a mom that still wants you there. I would milk it and stay until she tells you to go. You are so lucky. I'm 22 and got kicked out at 18, now I'm trying to juggle a full time job and college and it sucks bad. I am always broke and it's very depressing. I would stay if I was you until age 24 or when you graduate(if you go to school) or get in a serious relationship, whatever comes first.

At 20 you're still OK. You should move out whenever you can afford to move out. It profits you nothing to move out, go broke and move back. THAT's depressing. Do what fits you lifestyle. If you're in school, you might as well wait until you graduate and get a job. If you're already working, consider moving in with some roommates. It's cheap and will give you a good idea what it's like to live on your own.

If you feel you need to move out then maybe you should or you might end up feeling unsatisfied living there. Once a person reaches 18 or 19 they usually move out because they want to be independant of their parents or are going to college. By the time they reach 21 they should really be on their own but it really depends on the living arrangement too. Is your mom widowed or divorced and dependant on you financially?

I moved out when I was 18, it was a good age to get out and learn what life is all about.

Your mum doesn't want, for selfish reasons, to 'let her boy go'. That said it's life, and moving out is not quite that easy... you'll find out. I left home through force at 13, so 20 is peanuts... OK.? Good luck , have a safe drive., and look after yourself and others.

20 is definitely not too old to be still living at home.
I think it depends on each individual situation. I'm 24 and still living at home, but that's only because I can't afford to live on my own. Since I'm not in school and work full time, I pay rent.

Once you are no longer a minor, have graduated from school, and have a job, you are too old to be living at home.

If you have a job/career and are able to support yourself...it is definitely time to get a place of your own. It doesn't have to be far away from your mom.
It will be hard in the beginning, but will get easier as time goes on.
