Last night I noticed that sometimes my dog would squint and his eye was a little red and watery. Other times he had it opened fine and it looked fine but this morning it looked like he was squinting again. After doing some research I think he may have conjunctivitis. I can not get to the vet until Thursday morning though. I saw on another posting someone mentioned using a homeopathic liquid called Collodial Silver to help keep his eye clean until we can get to the vet. Does anyone know anything about this stuff or have any other suggestions.

Please don't respond with the obvious such as "take him to the vet".

Thanks for your help

you shouldn't put anything in his eye unless it's from a vet. you could be taking the risk of an even worse infection or even blinding him. the warm rag idea doesn't sound like a bad one tho

a homeopathic liquid will not cure the condition, it will only provide some relief. If you can't take the dog to the vet until thursday, just ask a friend to take him. If for some reason the vet doesn't have an appointment available, call them back, and let them know it is conjunctivitis. it is a serious condition and they will take him in immediately. Otherwise, try a different vet that will take your dog's health seriously. His eye will get really bad if he doesn't get a prescription soon.

Good Luck

the terrific drops (as prescribed by using an emergency vet) to apply are GenTeal. they are bought at Walmart for no longer too plenty. canines now and returned do no longer produce sufficient tears or (like my dogs around this time final 12 months) may well be afflicted by hypersensitive reactions. i does no longer use visine or sparkling eyes because of the fact those are made to regulate blood bypass (they constrict viens) and th is would desire to be counter efficient to therapeutic of the attention.

Colloidal Silver will cure pink eye. You put a couple of drops in the eye. It's getting harder to find though. Most of us who use CS, make our own.
The medicine called Terramycin is an antibiotic salve meant for the eyes and will also cure pink eye. You can get it at any larger pet store.

Like most medications you need a prescription. I have never had that problem with my dogs. Keep us informed. I know many would like to know. Good Luck.
