That Scripture is found at Matt 24:36 which reads ""But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only." (Notice that the holy spirit is not even mentioned)
Jesus also stated this at John 14:28--" You heard me say to you, `I go away, and I will come to you.' If you loved me, you would have rejoiced, because I go to the Father; for the Father is greater than I."
Also at John 13:16 Jesus tells us--"Truly, truly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him."
This shows us that God and his Son are two separate spirit persons. The Father does indeed know when Armegeddon will begin, but the Son does not.
If Jesus were God, he would know all things. Jesus called himself a servant and God his master, so I hope this answers your question.

Matthew 24:36, "But of that day and hour knoweth no one, not even the angels of heaven, neither the Son, but the Father only."
[Why He could not predict it but only the Father could.]
We know from the Scriptures that God is Spirit. (John 4:24). Therefore Jesus cannot be God the Father but can be God the Son (God in the flesh), and because of this truth Jesus told them what the Father wanted them to know. Read Matthew 24:43,"But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief was coming, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken through." God wants us to believe, i.e. trust Him. If He tells us something we can see with our own eyes then where is the trust? but If we are told something we cannot see then we can believe it or not believe it. Believe!

Mathew 24:36 is the verse you are thinking of.
Jesus wasn't in the predicting business. There is a lot that can be said in answer to your question but maybe you could do some reading on your own through some of the many good internet bible study sites.
god bless!!!

Matthew 24: 36
He says that nobody knows the day and hour except the Father --- Not the angels, not the Son. This verse kind of puts a damper on the trinity doctrine.

This question has already been answered, but it raises another:
As Jesus stated in Matthew 24:36, "No one knows the day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father."
This raises the question, if you beleive in the trinity dogma, why does the holy spirit not know this? It does say "Only the Father" knows.

Only God knows the exact moment Jesus is to return for His chruch/ bride at the rapture. Jesus says this in this scripture...
Matthew 24:36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
That is the way God designed and planned that day.
Matthew 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

Use a concordanance, in was in the Greek scriptures (new testament) he said that only the father knew, thus proving once again that the father and the son are NOT the same just like I am not the same as my father and my son is not the same as me.

There are things that were purposely hid from the all-seeing eyes of Jesus when He clothed himself in the garb of humanity. However, after returning to heaven, and resuming His role in the Godhead, Jesus is as all-knowing as the Father.

the matthew verse is quoted a lot, but if you check out Acts chapter 1, after jesus was resurrected, then he told the disciples that it was not for them to know... he didn't say that he didn't know at that time.
either way, Jesus is not bound by time, so it's all the same to him????
