Regardless of which technology is better or not (and you will get 100 different answers from 100 different people), consider your rooms lighting conditions.
Plasma TVs have a highly polished screen and tend to reflect a lot of lights from lamps, windows, etc. LCDs have a non-glare coating on the screen and reflect considerably less light than Plasmas.
So if your room is fairly dark or you are able to control your lights pretty well, go with Plasma. But if your room is really bright and you can't control light sources very well, go with LCD.
I, personally, have a Samsung 46" LCD in a really bright room with lots of windows and the picture is amazing even on really bright summer days with all the curtains open.

Picture quality on a Plasma is a slight bit higher than Lcd but you need to choose the right TV for YOU.
Plasma + Small mounting depth, great picture quality
Plasma - No repairing a broken unit. Will "burn" image(s) into screen.
LCD + Less expensive, will not burn image(s) into screen and can be repaired.
LCD - Not easy to mount larger units on walls, picture quality is great but not as great as Plasma.
My choice is LCD. I watch shows and movies that do have the dumb black bars on the top and bottom. I don't want that burned into the screen. I also play 360 on it. Games, black bars, even scrolling tickers on the bottom of the screen can cause damage over long term use. With the correct cables and connections, an LCD looks just as good as a Plasma. Side by side you might notice a slight difference but who has a Plasma and LCD in their home right next to each other? Price is also a factor because you can get a large LCD for the price of a average Plasma.
If you just want an impressive TV, you don't have a budget and have space issues then go with a Plasma.

I have been working in Home Theater Sales for years. Plasma is the best picture by far over any LCD currently on the market. Your colors are more natural looking and you tend to have truer blacks on the screen. That makes your colors stand out. They both have the same life expectancy and the plasma don't have the problems that they used to have when the first came out. The downfall with Plasma are that they are made of glass like the CRT tube tv. They tend to get reflection from lights and windows in the room. LCD have a lower contrast ratio so they tend to be brighter, but the blacks tend to be a gray instead of black. They don't have reflection issues because they have plastics panels on the front screen. Neither tv is better, it is what suits the room that it is going into.

Plasma's each and every of ways... more recent Plasma's are literally not liable to burn outs (computer screen burn).... the substantial benefit with a Plasma is that the image refresh time is decrease than LCDs... this signifies that the image on liquid crystal reveal refreshes slowly and therefore ghosting (blurring in layman's english) is seen for instant paced photos. it really is a real situation each and every from time to time reason video games in various of circumstances have quick action and the image blurring is the more serious element which could take position to you.... i in my opinion personal a 40 2" Hitachi Plasma and performance by no ability suffered computer screen burnouts. I actually have frozen the image for 3-4 hours and nevertheless no longer something of that sort. As I suggested, computer screen burnouts are element of the previous with Plasmas.. I even personal a 37" Sony liquid crystal reveal and the image on the Plasma is a lot extra useful with deeper colour and extra useful comparison. although the more recent LCDs with LED technologies have decreased refresh costs and better image high quality, they are truly severe priced.. I say follow the Plasma and earnings from the video games... Boy the photos seem jaw dropping... attempt Killzone 2 on it... I cried when I first talked about it... that's that captivating.

Plasma gives you a bigger screen for your dollar, deeper blacks, but then LCD do not suffer from burn-in and at the smaller end of the market (less than 40-inch screen size), LCD is your only way forward if you want something slim and stylish. It is all a question of knowing what are the advantages and limitations of each with respect to your specific needs.

better? LCD last about twice as long as Plasma, and generally cost less. but the Plasma TV has greater ratios and the color is more vibrant. however, all this hinges on if you have HD? that what really makes your TV come a live.
