In Christianity, we have the Holy trinity, or three aspects of God, in Hinduism there are many aspect's of God- symbolized as different Deity. In Jewish Mysticism there are 72 names of God. Couldn't these all be different ways of expressing something so huge- it's hard to put into words- the true totality of God. People negate these other expressions of the Divine as blasphemism- because they state that "they" worship many. I believe it is a misinterpretation- that the "many" are just aspects of the one Supreme God, and that even Christians have their own way of expressing this Truth with the Trinity

do you think any one human mind can understand "what or how God actually is" ? the bible can be interpreted many different ways, so can many religious text. "the Son" of God can be taken literally or metaphorically. as in- Jesus was called the son of God because he demonstrated godly ablilities. So have other beings. Some believe we are all children of God- capable of equal greatness. This and more shall you also do
and to give God human characteristics~ like a personality. I see that as a very small vision of God- I don't think God is just a bigger version of us...
God is the creative energy in all things- Life itself

I agree. I think deities are metaphors for something too immense, infinite, and eternal for the human mind to understand. It's a way of trying to comprehend the incomprehensible, to define the indefinable. And think the more we define it, the further we get from the truth.

There is only one true God, and he isn't Jesus or a trinity. Jesus called his Father the ONLY true God at John 17:3.

The trinity is not a Bible teaching. And the funny thing is that there are religions that admit the trinity is not in the Bible. For example:

A PROTESTANT publication states: "The word Trinity is not found in the Bible . . . It did not find a place formally in the theology of the church till the 4th century." (The Illustrated Bible Dictionary) And a Catholic authority says that the Trinity "is not . . . directly and immediately [the] word of God."—New Catholic Encyclopedia.

The Catholic Encyclopedia also comments: "In Scripture there is as yet no single term by which the Three Divine Persons are denoted together. The word [tri'as] (of which the Latin trinitas is a translation) is first found in Theophilus of Antioch about A. D. 180. . . . Shortly afterwards it appears in its Latin form of trinitas in Tertullian."

That's what the Hindus believe. They don't really have that many gods so much as people think they do. It's all about different aspects of God., their God Almighty. Anyone who says they have many gods needs to read a book.

George Harrison also stated in a song:
They call you Christ, Vishnu, Buddha, Jehovah our lord,
You are govidim bismillah, creator of all.

The problem is most so called "religious" people don't read, they beleive what people tell them instead of using their own head. Just becasue I worship the devil doesn't mean I haven't read a lot of religious texts and books on religion.

The trinity is not a Biblical teaching. If one believes that the Bible is truly the Word of God, then we know that Jesus is God's Son, not an aspect of God, although he does reflect God's qualities, (as many sons do their fathers). We also know that the holy spirit is God's active force, not God, and not an aspect of his personality, but a force. God is very exact about being honored and worshiped as One, not however we humans want to think of him, but how he actually is, and the Bible is very adamant about that.

Exodus 20: 1-6:
1 And God proceeded to speak all these words, saying:

2 “I am Jehovah your God, who have brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slaves. 3 You must not have any other gods against my face.

4 “You must not make for yourself a carved image or a form like anything that is in the heavens above or that is on the earth underneath or that is in the waters under the earth. 5 You must not bow down to them nor be induced to serve them, because I Jehovah your God am a God exacting exclusive devotion, bringing punishment for the error of fathers upon sons, upon the third generation and upon the fourth generation, in the case of those who hate me; 6 but exercising loving-kindness toward the thousandth generation in the case of those who love me and keep my commandments.

1 Corinthians 8:5 & 6: " For even though there are those who are called “gods,” whether in heaven or on earth, just as there are many “gods” and many “lords,” 6 there is actually to us one God the Father, out of whom all things are, and we for him; and there is one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom all things are, and we through him."

Yes, they are all different ways of expressing the idea of a being/power that is beyond human comprehension.

Once one accepts that there is no supernatural/deity, it becomes a moot point.

There are no aspects of the one Supreme God. There is only one God. To say that God can be hateful and decietful on one hand, and loving and holy on the other is wrong.

One God. Many, infinite facets, expressions, incarnations. Is it not the most beautiful thing in the universe? And the Universe itself.... *sigh* :~)
