I been an international students for serious mental illness I did not do anything yet after losing my passport about 40 days.my visa has been expired about one month.

You can try going to the embassy for help but it is probably too late. You are supposed to report a lost or stolen passport immediately.

If your visa has expired, you are already illegal and you have to apply for a temporary passport to return to your country
Nobody will extend your visa as you haven't reported your passport in the Home Office

which country are you in ? and where are you from ?
you must make a police statement about the loss your passport
if you have medical supporting of your illness ,in order not get in legal troubles .......
then contact your embassy immediately first to get a new passport ,and then to see if you can get an extension on your visa ........
please do not wait any longer for you may get in serious troubles

You should have gone to your embassy right away.
You had better go now, because it's safer to get help from your embassy than to be caught and deported.
