OH MY GOD, I'M SO WITH YOU ON THIS ONE!! I've been wanting to ask this question for such a long time now! I don't think laziness has anything to do with it...I think people are just dumb!

People don't spell check for many reasons, but I have to believe the main reason is because they are using the internet slang (lol, roflmao,u,etc.). They WANT to use this sort of vernacular. If they spell checked it they would constantly have to sit there and press ignore. It would be a waste of time. I think that there are TONS of kids on this site.

Laziness. The check spelling button however does not help much anyway. Most of the time it's not the bad spelling that makes things incomprehensible but rather the grammar (or the lack of such). It also, sadly, does not filter out the thousands and thousands of incredibly STUPID questions and answers.

I agree. If i'm no longer sensible of a spelling I form it contained in the question field, examine it, then replica/paste to the archives field. there are a spread of parts of danger for progression on Y!A.

I don't know but, I wish they would. It is so funny when they are trying to act like they know everything or asking a controversial question and they can't even spell what it is they are asking.

Because the contrast between background and actual writing is bad. The check spelling box is easily missed.

Because they probably think they ARE spelling correctly, so no need to check. Scary. Many of the errors that drive me nuts are ones the checker would "pass" anyway. "Your" v. "you're". Site, sight, and cite. There, they're, their. Two, too, and to.

If things were spelled correctly, then THEY wouldn't be able to read their own question.

I totally agree!! Perhaps sheer laziness or plain ignorance is a factor...
