The Holy Grail quest isn't Biblical, is it? The 'legends' about the Grail being Christ's cup etc., seem fabricated. The fact that it could supposedly bring abundance seems to be a quality shared with other cups & plates from other cultures.
Could it not be, simply, (as suggested by Kate Mosse in 'Labyrinth'), that the Holy Grail is salvation through Christ's blood?

This question was explicitly for Christians. if it's not your thing, why do you bother answering questions on Christianity? Just to put us down? How sad.

The Holy Grail i believe is first mentioned in De Saint de Greal by Chretien De Troyes and possibly has its origins in paintings of Mary Mother of Jesus holding a cup that catched Christs blood . There also another possible influence and that's is pagan in origin the Celts had cauldrons that where considered sacred and magical and where used by the Druids this got mixed up with the the cup of passion and became a part of the Grail lore There is no evidence though for the Bloodline Myth of the Da Vinci Code .Musicol why the stupid remark is it maybe a nasty experience of church as a child? or maybe you just a narrow minded bigot like Richard Dawkins? Anyway the question was about the holy grail not the definition of what is or is not holy.

The confusion comes from the word SANG RAAL this translates as 'Royal Blood'. The words SAN GRAAL translates as 'Holy Grail'. At some point the words were misread which started a story about a holy grail about a thousand years ago.

.No one can say what happened to the cup that Jesus used at the Last Supper. After the Resurrection , people who believed in Jesus, wanted as many 'souvenirs' or articles that the Messiah used. There is a story that Helena, mother of the Emperor Constantine, searched and found a piece of the cross that Jesus died on. This was then venerated as a relic of the true cross, there were probably many claims. Who really knows.

Grail effectively means: Chalice, Container, Cup, etc...
"The Kingdom of God is within you" - Gospel of Thomas!
We (All Human Beings) are the 'Holy Grail'...
We are all a part of what most people refer to as GOD (A.K.A -The Universe) - Accept the TRUTH, and wake up!
