Carrot and turnip I'd chop into little squares and boil them together for 20 mins and them mash them adding butter and s&p.
Cabbage I'd boil for about 15 mins and spuds I'd boil until soft and then mash adding milk and butter.
Make sure you're cabbage is crispy tho, nothing worse than soggy veg.
Good luck!

I love a good glazed carrot. steam drain well add 1 pat butter and brown sugar about 1/3-1/2 cup. return to pan on low heat and let the mixture thicken. MMMMmmmm good.
For cabbage I like to saute this with butter, onion, salt, pepper, and paprika. Delicious.
Turnips?? Wow that was random. You could actually mash those like potatoe or brown them up with butter, like fried potatoes. Then use the potatoes for twice baked potatoes.
Bake them (the potatoes) remove from oven cut length wise and scoop out flesh leaving enough to keep the potatoes shape. In a bowl mash the potatoes with milk butter and seasoning and perhaps some grated cheddar cheese. Put the mixture back into the potatoes put on a baking and brown the tops. Garnish with chives.

Carrot: Chop up, put in microwaveable bowl, add a small pinch of salt, add couple of spoonfuls of water. Microwave a couple of minutes at a time and test to see if cooked. (this steams them).
Cabbage will need about the same amount of time. Potato a little longer and turnip even longer.
Once you are happy they are all cook (one after another..starting with turnip, potato, them carrot then cabbage). Put them all in microwave together for half a minute before serving (this ensures they are hot.
Best to make some gravy to serve with them (always helps veg taste better)

If you have a strainer (or collander) place that on top of a saucepan of water, bring the water to the boil and then lower it to simmering, then pplace the veggies in the collander - this will allow you to steam the veggies, which is the tastiest and healthiest way to cook 'em.

Steam them. that's the terrific way. upload a sprint butter and a sprint of pro salt and you're sturdy to circulate. Steaming keeps plenty extra style, colour and supplementations than boiling does.
