I don't qualify for the highly skilled migrant program and I'm aware only of the employer sponsorship program.I'm just checking to see if there are other options open to me as I wish to remain in the UK and eventualy become a British citizen.

i am canadian. i came to england in sept/71. the home office told me then i did not require a work permit because canada is a member of the British Commonweath. you might like to contact the home office and check that out, they may have changed the rules.

See if you can find a job where the employer will sponser you, to be self suficient, it all helps on your interview for a permit if you have pfoof that you are not hewre to spunge, we have enough of them.

I DON"T THINK people are reading your question. You are in The United Kingdom, where I am sure the immigration laws are different than United States. Try the website for immigration there, I am sure they have question and answer section on their site.

its insane how so many people get into this country without doing it the right way and when an honest person wants to work here, they can't.

It's madness!!!

Go to the local council and tell them you are desperate for work... they might push stuff through for you then?
