Mudmarine is correct.
Saddam refused to let UN inspectors in. For years. Dubya is the only one to do anything about it.

According to unverified informations, there is a Document called 'Protocals', perhaps of ZionistChristians andJews. Their long term planning was stated to be defacing all Muslim countries by 1910, in order to let 'prophesies' fulfill! So one and the other excuse was coined to attack and subdue one by one all the countries with some Musliminfluence. Apparently now, Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction, and Afghans had no means to attack any western country. Yet the war goes on. The cause may be religious, not oil. No oil in Afghanistan. However this answer is based on hearsay,on conjectures. May be a food for thoughts!

I believe the real estate bubble was caused by mortage rates hitting 45-year lows, bottom out below 5% for fixed rate mortgages. This boosted the house-buying power of consumers and with so much money chasing a relatively fixed number of homes, price increased. This rise then lead to speculation on real estate. Lowered lending standards and "creative" mortgages like interest only, or worse yet negative amortization, aggravated the problem too. I don't follow your theory that ending the war will exacerbate the real estate bubble problem.

After the Gulf War Cease Fire, Saddam was supposed to do certain things by UN mandate .
He agreed to the mandates rather than get his A** kicked even worse .
Then he refused to coopperate in many ways .
He was warned many times , repeatedly .
Finally something had to be done .
There , you now have the simpilified version of history .

Apparently Bush was thinking that there were Weapons of Mass Destruction over in Iraq and they were pointed at him, so he saw fit to send our service men and women over there to die over a bit of misinformation. 9/11 had to do with Afganistan.

The US wanted to gain another military foothold in the middle east, Bush also needed to repay many of their campaign contributors (through war contracts & oil prices) & Saddam tried to assasinate his daddy.
