Plato for sure... I was just re-reading the Republic recently and admiring all over again how very well he picked an issue apart by answering every question with another question until getting to the root of it. If only we all did that!

Neither... I would let each individual choose which to implement their life on. To be honest, the world confromed to the Bible is scary. But each individual must be free to choose for themselves. Period, end of discussion. Its called freedom of religion.

The Republic is OK, but it has serious shortcomings, e.g.,
You can't stone people to death,
There are no provisions for drowning all of humanity,
You can't kill off the first-born of your enemies,
No mandates to wipe out neighboring tribes
No eternal suffering for dissidents
In short, it seems to be missing a loving god.
